WELCOME...
Edna Paine, Artist, grew up in South Africa where her love of nature led her to apply this interest and knowledge to her drawings and paintings. She subsequently attained her qualifications as a commercial artists.
Many of Edna's
paintings have been shown in exhibitions in South
Africa and England. These include several sell out
one man shows.
Over a period
of five years she had nine of her wildlife paintings
accepted in the International P.A.W.S. Competition
where only 100 works were selected each year from
an average total of 1,500 entries. Two of these
paintings were selected as Best Acrylic and Best
Oil in show.
Edna has recently
discovered Encaustic Wax, which is a very ancient
medium and has fallen in love with it. She finds
the medium fascinating both artistically and historically.
It was first used over 2,000 years ago by Egyptions
then Greeks and Romans.
Edna makes her
own encaustic colours with beeswax, pigments and
resin and enjoys painting intuitivly by allowing
the paintings to evolve as layers are added or scraped
away. She intends to hold workshops using encaustic
in the near future and can be contacted at Leigh
Art Studio, tel. 07816 562 421.
